Default 940 Sports Edition - How much?

If I were to be tempted to buy the above how much should I pay for it? Well documented SH 180,000 miles? Manual...

I do love my 240....and have been looking into putting a 1041 locking diff into it...but......these 940's have them already...blah blah blah....They have sweet wheels.... you know how it is!!!

Cheers

Nice 245 you have there.
940 sport models do cost more than standard models, mainly due to the Galaxy wheels. Prices in the UK seem to be much lower than Europe and the US so it's hard to tell you what to offer.
On the other hand, as your 245 probably has a 1031 axle, a locling diff from a 1041 axle should fit without needing to change axles.
Some 940s with 1031 axles also had plate-type LSDs which would fit in your axle.
What would be nice would be to find a cheap 940 sport and transplant the engine, M90 gearbox, diff and Galaxies into your 245

Cheers!

The 245 came from the Netherlands...loads of them there!!!

Swapping bits into the 245 would be sweet! But then I'd have to do suspension tweaks etc.....too much work!! ;-)

The 940 is question is a UK car.....

If the sport has all it's goodies; Galaxies, eggcrate grille, roof spoiler etc. and doesn't need a load of work, then expect to pay around £1500.
Be wary if you are told the air-con needs re-gassing. I had mine checked earlier in the year and ended up paying £500 for a fix that included a new condenser.

I was under the impression that I would need to chop down the axle/axles, to convert to a locker? Or is it just a straight swap??

Well the 245 doesn't have air con so if it worked or not wouldn't bother me!! Windows down!! What else should I look out for? What about these Nivomats? I know they are expensive to replace!! What do/don't they do when not working? And how long do they last on average? This car doesn't have a towbar fitted....

Locking diff, plate type LSD and open diff should be interchangeable and all should fit your 245's 1031 axle.
To swap a complete axle from a 940, you would have to shorten the shafts/tubes as the 940 has a wider track, but there is no need to do this as long as you already have a 1031 axle.
You could always fit a Quaife LSD. A bit expensive though.

OK....cool....all I want is more traction setting off in the snow...... Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

Might have to go and raid the nearest scrapyard....Although Volvos in CZ are a bit thin on the ground.... Its all about fuel economy here!!

Thanks again!

Nivomats are self levelling shock absorbers. When the back is loaded up the Nivomats should pump up as you drive over bumps within the first mile.
When they start to fail, the rear of the car will sag when left to stand.
If they have never been changed then at 180k they would probably be worth doing.
As the sport is lowered by 20mm, the Nivomats are special versions and as such even more expensive than the standard height versions.

Have a look on the Turbobricks forum as they talk about using diffs from certain Jeep models.
