Default poor refurb?

to anyone whos had wheels refurbed, did the backs come back looking like this?

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/photopos...sort=1&cat=514

and this:

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/photopos...sort=1&cat=514

it looks like they only blasted the fronts and left the old paint on the backs then sprayed the fronts only.

The first picture shows what appears to be a very dangerous split in the wheel rim just above the tyre beading. I would send the pictures back to them and ask them what do they think they are playing at as it appears that you have been sent someone elses rims. If they do not reply to the effect that they are very sorry and will replacce the rims with new ones as a mark of good faith, then go for the trading standards guys.

All the best, Peter

Aha! That's the kind of refurb that you may get if you don't pay top dollar - the Titans that I have are painted and lacquered right to the back rim as they should be and were properly paint matched to the original colour.

Good refurbing should be indistinguishable from a new rim and be as long-lasting into the bargain.

When I had my Volans originally refurbed the people (not my current supplier) did miss off the lacquer coating but did do the whole job again without demur or charge.

The moral is pick the furbers who are recommended.

Who would you recommend? So far I've been told it will cost anywhere from 30 - 60 pounds per wheel, is that about right?

Thats a bad refurb. Did they even bother to remove the tyre?
When a wheels refurbished it should be completely shot blasted, any curb damage repaired, then painted and laquered.
Before you leave your wheels ask to look at some that he has already done.
That wheel that someone said was cracked could be where the paint is flakeing.

that split is actually some of the old paint flaking off.
