340GLE Car Radio Removal
Hi All,
My Fiancee has a 340GLE with a non-original (but VOLVO) car radio fitted in the dash. It has failed and I need to remove it. Please can anyone tell me how to remove what appears to be a DIN-E conversion kit containing the current radio so that I can replace it. Thanks in advance Phil :)

RE: 340GLE Car Radio Removal
Hiya Phil.
Erm, I dunno what type of radio it has in it, but if its one of the old big big types, then you need to remove the knobs and use a gadget to push the spring clips in to remove the radio. If its one of the newer types of the radio of the standard DIN-E size, then you should see two covers at the sides, lever these off carefully and then there should be the four holes that you need to push a gadget (small screwdriver should be fine) through to release the clips and release the radio. the wires run down the back and through to underneath the passenger side of the tunnel console, you just need to peel back the carpet in the side of the footwell near the gear-stick and disconnect the big connector and then the radio should pull out. I'm not sure how to remove the spacer piece that changes the space from the big space to the DIN-E space, but I think its just screwed or clipped into place. Hopefully you should see when you get the radio out. I know you're an audio engineer, so please don't shout at me if I've already told you things that you've tried. Hope that helps a bit though. RE: 340GLE Car Radio Removal
Thanks Andy.
Turned out to be a brute force job - someone had fitted the M10 nut on the back of the stereo (AAAaaagggghhhh!!) All done now - thanks for replying though! :) Phil :)
