HELP-WITH CRAZY IDEA

HI-I OWN A 854 T5 WHICH IS MY PRIDE+JOY,I ALSO OWN A AMAZON 2-DOOR COUPE WHICH IS FOR RESTORATION.THIS CAR AS A BADLY SMOKING ENGINE+A NOISE GEARBOX.MY FRIEND RESENTLY HAD IS T5 STOLEN+RECIEVED IT BACK SMASHED UP+BADLY VANDERLISED.HE AS BEEN PAID OUT FOR THE CAR BUT IS CONSIDERING BUYING IT BACK AS THE ENGINE+MANUAL BOX ARE 100%.YOU KNOW WHAT IS COMING NEXT YES !!CAN THIS ENGINE+BOX BE PUT IN THE AMAZON?HAS ANY BODY GOT ANY COMMENTS?AS THIS BEEN DONE BEFORE?OR IS THIS TOO MUCH A PAIN?ARE WE DREAMING LIKE WHERE TEENAGERS AGAIN?ALL HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.MANY THANKS FOR NOW.

One major problem! It will not just bolt in for one obvious reason. The 850 is an East-West mounted engine, the Amazon is a North-South engine. If you can obtain the matching bellhousing it may be possible to turn the 850 through 90 degrees and mount it in the Amazon engine bay. You would be better off considering a B230ET or FT engine with an M47 gearbox (5-speed) and matching the propshaft and engine/gearbox mountings to the Amazon. You would then have a Competition worthy car which with development could turn out to be quite potent.

I happen to know of a guy who stuck one of these engines in a PV544 so yes, it can be done. Takes time and money though. I cen try to see if I can get hold of contact details for you if you'd like.

Do not stick an M47 on a B230 or FT engine. They are much too weak, use either an M46 or the M90L.
