Something different?
Hi All,
Signed up recently and been having a nose round to try and get some inspiration. I have an 854 T5 manual that, although I am very happy with, I'd like to start thinking bigger. I'd rather avoid the same old methods and try something a little different in terms of performance modifications - anyone got any thoughts cos I'm not really sure where to start? Many thanks |

I guess the first thing would be to make sure everything, as standard, is working ok before putting extra pressure on things that might be worn or failing.
Then it depends how much money you have, and, if you go faster you also need to be able to stop better....no good upping the power if the standard brakes won't stop you. |

Dont worry I wouldn't be niave enough to start modifying without making sure the car is in as good a health as it can be!
As for the brakes, I've got the 302 conversion on so that shouldn't be a problem. Any suggestions? Thanks |

You've made a good start with your conversion to the 302mm discs - a modification that is a must IMO. What brake set up have you got? What do you mean by the same old methods? I take it you've done some research.......maybe you could tell us what it is that you don't want? There are remaps, custom remaps, MBC, chips, fish , handling mods, engine tunes.....the list is endless!!!

Thanks for the reply.
I dont want to use the same old methods of remap, exhaust, filter etc - I'd like to do things with a little more imagination. However, thats where I am stuck because I have a poor imagination so I am calling on you guys/girls to help? Thanks |

why not do things the old fashioned way? new cam, bore out the cylenders, lighten essential components..
the common route is the cheapest to high power though. thats why its common |

Stuart Williams' 850R
If it's something different that you want have a look at Stuart Williams' 850R that is featured in the modified section, I have included a link for you at the end of this post. Stuart's 850R car is probably the most modified 850R in the UK producing over 500bhp! There is a comprehensive list of all his modifications. If you are inspired by this send him a pm or e-mail and ask him some questions about his car. I'm sure that Stuart will be pleased to help - let us know how you get on!
