Default EGR Cleaning

HI

just a quick question guys, asking on behalf of a friend whose car is with a local garage..

Long story, short - been initially told it was a knackered injectors and it's being sent for refurb to Manchester etc etc and is now told its not the injector, just a probem with the EGR valve which is apparently "on a machine to clean it out"??

Anyway, what would an "average" price be for a garage to remove the EGR on a 53plate S60, clean and replace ??

many thanks in advance

Stu

The original problem was a "pulled back" sensation at certain speeds (50ish) which does sound very similar to what was happening to me when I had my EGR replaced (albeit in a different vehicle )

all the machine will do is activate the valve and clear that is if they have the machine to do that i have not heard about one for the volvo i do no that Reanult did this with there egr valves, if it is sticking or it could be broke they are not servicable items , you can just buy the egr without the cooler if that is the culprit.it took me about 2 hrs to take of and clean and put back on but you can not clean its a sealed unit.

hmmmm, so are we sayng that there is no "machine" to clean out an EGR on an S60??

He was told to start with that it was a dodgy injector and then the EGR, just sounds a little like he's having his pants pulled down
