Hi, ive cleaned a tiny fan which sits by the trip computer etc, it now spins freely, and also the tiny resister wire which sits in front.

But the problem is still there... could it be the blower motor at fault?

You need to get the codes read in the ECC or you'll be guessing forever

Default EEC Roof Fan units

you've two slightly larger fans above the driver and passenger side roof liner grab handles.

these get clogged up so badly that the motors don't spin. I had to remove the sunvisors, grab handles, and remove the interior A-Pillar and B-Pillar trim to get adequate space to work on removing these from their respective places in the roof space. Two hex T30's bolts or could be T20 (Can't remember off-hand) hold each unit in place.

Carefully remove the bolts, and using a cue tip gently start to remove the "fluff" that has built up over the past number of years. Use a hoover to assist in removing as much as you can beforehand but you'll need the cue tips if you really want them cleaned out.

My EEC is working perfectly since I've done this as had the 19/20 flashing light sequence as well.

Fitting is the reverse of removal.

I thought the ME7 ECC only had the 1 fan by the trip computer switch? I've never noticed any others by the handles .. Will have to have a proper look at lunch!

@villan: you could be right. I described the Volvo 855 ECC set-up as presumed it would have same set-up as the phase 1 V70 with only difference in the remodelled interior. So I'm to stand corrected if I'm wrong.

Cheers Bren

Only the 850 has the passenger temperature sensors above the grab rails even the `97 model

But the V70 `97 on only has the one on the dash

Question update

Well thanks peeps for all ur reply's, i had apart the climate control module nothing seemed fried so then decided to lift the scuttle to check the cabin filter.

found loads of leaves!!

so cleared them all out and moved onto the fan, i removed the glovebox and the blower motor.

I smelt the blower motor and it smelt burned but it did still work when wired to 12v.

I really think it's shorting out inside causing a high power usage and inturn causing the climate module to shut it down so i think i will replace the motor and give it a whirl...

What do you guys recon??
