Default boost on a 2.0t

I know volvo made the t4 and the 2.0 t different for a reason but the problem. Is i cant afford to insure a t4 but still want my 2.0t to boost a bit harder than it does, is there any easy way to make it a bit more pokey without spendong loads of money or annoying the internals and the running of the car?

Thanks

Tom

Yep. Fit a superchip or similar. I did it on my first S40 (2.0lpt) about 10 years ago and it basically takes power up to that of a standard T4. Other option is to adjust actuator arm as has been discussed many many times. Either way, make sure boost gauge is fitted and don't go above 12psi.

Please don't forget that its a LPT (low pressure turbo) so it can't quite handle as much stick as the T4 so just take care when boosting, also make sure that the boost gauge you have is MECHANICAL and not electrical (a bad earth will mean an incorrect reading on an electrical one - bad things might happen!

So it would be bad to do it without a boost guage? Or is there a safe amount of turns i can do?

I would get a boost gauge anyway so you can see what is 'normal' before you turn it up

Are they difficult to fit and do they take a long time to fit?

I am not going to say try it and find out as you are playing dangerously as Grant says you can only go to a max of 12psi in safety.

As standard you are 9psi (8.7) so you have very little movement to play with so you must have a boost guage fitted as you will have no idea what you would be set at.

The LPT engine does not have the stronger internals as the HPT to which there is no point seeing as the compression is higher and the fuel ron of 95 is recommended giving you 165bhp

You may find you will have to up the ron to 97/98 if you turn up the boost?

Default maximum boost on a T4

Hi guys, sorry to barge in on this thread but i find it very interesting as my dad has the phase 1.5 2.0T and he is looking to up his boost aswell, well when or if he gets his boost gauge back
i was also curious on what the maximum boost for a phase 1 T4 would be before any problems!

Experience from many on here would show that 19psi can be safely run on a P1 T4 (assuming the engine is in a healthy condition). Upping the boost will quickly show up any weaknesses in the engine, turbo, pipework etc.
