Default EGR valve V40 t3

Hi all, i'm new to the forum and have searched, but can't find an answer for my problem.

My car is a 2004 v40 with the 1.9 tdi t3 engine, it's done 108,000 mls. and suddenly lost power on pull away, has started smoking a bit and become difficult to start. My mechanic has told me he thinks it's the egr valve, he's cleaned it without any improvement and is loathe to spend £170 on a genuine volvo replacement, in case it doesn't work. There are some on ebay for around £50 but are marked up as for the t4 engine. I was wandering if anyone on here would know if the egr valve for the t4 and t3 are the same, as the advertisers don't know.

I would be very gratefull if anyone on here could clarify this for me, or know of a cheap alternative.

TIA Steve
