Default XC90 D5 Exhaust Repair Clamp

Hi All,

I noticed a little while ago that one of the two exhaust hangers on the rear section of the exhaust has rusted through and come off, leaving the exhaust supported by the other one alone.

I had this on my V70 and it was welded back on when I had it MOT'd.

My wife has reported a clonking coming from the rear of the car when driven over bumps (although i couldn't recreate this when i drove it....)

Seeing as the above is the most likely culprit I was wondering if anyone had used one of the exhaust repair clamps available on ebay or from partsforvolvo?

Link Here:- LINK

I was wondering if the old hangers need to be cut / ground off before the clamp will sit in the right place or if it can be fitted behind or in front of the original hangers?

Thanks

Sam

I have just fitted the repair clamps in both positions on my S60. They sit back slightly from the original position

One things for sure. No matter how bad something may be, it will have been much much worse and with lots more drama for the spammer

Excellent thanks very much for confirming.

I will get one on order before the exhaust decides to drop off - My wife does manage to find every bump in the road!!

Default Exhaust clamp - good move

Hello Sam,

I have a 2006 XC90. I had the same problem in Nov 2011. Ordered this part, arrived quickly, fitting was a doddle and it is still going strong today. TBH, I had completely forgotten about it, as you should.

Follow this link for more details: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=125568

Well done, you've saved yourself a small fortune and will have the satisfaction of being a hero in the eyes of SWMBO

Best wishes, David

You will probably find that the other "working" hanger will snap of with pliers with scarily little force! mine did when I upgraded to a stronger hanger.
