Default My review on blanking off EGR Value

Blanked off my EGR value a few months ago to my V70 D5. Purchased plate of ebay for a few pounds and fits in minutes. Started the car, all fine and went for a spin. No smoke on hard acceleration. Seemed to increase the acceration and make the engine sound more aggressive! Only down side I could see was a drop in mpg. No warning lights.

2 months later, the engine started to tick over lower and cause vibrations in the cabin. Engine noiser at tick over and on the motorway (nice sound though). Then a few days ago driving along and engine sounded like it was popping/knocking but no loss in power, only lasted for a few seconds. Got home and jumped on the internet to read more about blanking off the value. If you blank offf the value the build up of deposits has to go somewhere, backwards!!!

So have now removed the blanking plate and the car is back to normal. Quite engine and mpg up. Will just have to put up with that puff of black smoke on acceration, its a deisel thats done 180,000.

I hope you find the review helpful

Chris
