Finally bought one
Hi guys
I'm finally an official member of the XC90 club! I've got myself a 2005 2.5T in Magic blue, bought from the awesome SLR motors near Warrington. I cannot recommend Seb enough and would definitely send anyone looking to buy a Volvo his way. I'm not planning on changing it too much, just want to do the following: - install side steps to help the kids get in and out http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-new-...YAAOSwjVVVjj4n - figure out the best way to get an aux in , I might just go the whole hog and get a double-din android auto unit installed - finally, I may get the engine remapped, still thinking about this one though The colour looks a lot nicer in person than in the picture! |

Someone else from the UK - on this forum - with the rare 2.5T petrol and not a D5 or T6 . I looked for ages and finally located a zero previous keeper model with only 60k on the clock. It has cost me a lot in repairs and servicing but I love it.
What is the mileage on yours? Looks really nice and I have one the same age. One thing you should check is whether the AWD is still working, the sleeve fails and there are no error codes. I just had mine fixed at great expense and didn't even realise it had gone until checking the propshaft by hand (advice from the lads on this forum). I would avoid a remap as I have heard that the 2.5T engine can split its liners due to remapping. Best leave it as is. Can't see a sunroof, so no concerns about blocked drains and water under your carpets . I hope you have great fun with it. Last edited by Acer; Jan 4th, 2016 at 13:27. |

Thanks guys.
Its got 114k miles on it , 1 previous owner, no sunroof, very good service history and the AWD works! I think i'll avoid the remap as suggested! |

Your fuel economy will be harsh enough without a remap adding to it . Out of interest have the spline sleeve and/or angle gear been replaced on yours (is there paper work proving it was done?). If not then I simply cannot fathom the depths of my bad luck to require a new spline sleeve and angle gear on the same model car that has only just done 70K miles! How on earth could yours have more than 50% greater mileage and still be fine? I just do not understand how random this failure is. Have you actually checked that you cannot rotate the propshaft by hand? I thought mine was working for ages until I tested it and found it wasn't.

I reckon the only logical conclusion is that this car probably had it changed in the past, even if no paperwork confirms it. Nothing else makes sense! . Last edited by Acer; Jan 4th, 2016 at 18:04. |

You may be right, or maybe caressing it is counter productive?

70,000 of short journeys is much harder on a car than 100,000 of normal mixed use and motorways.
