DIY window tinting
Sorry another thread.
I need my rear 5 windows on the V50 tinting , has anyone had any experience with the pre cut DIY kits ? Removes all the hassle of cutting to size, tempted to give it a go.

I have done it before on my old landrover & shogun & it was a real pain but I didn't use the pre-cut. I have also thought about the clip in type like this http://www.solarplexius.co.uk/Sun-pr...volvo/v50/2007 but they are not cheap and you can't open the rear windows. Rob |

Providing you get the conditions right and the glass clean you should be ok. Obviously lining it up is an issue with precut because you can't cut the excess off if you get it slightly out. My 50 has some damage on one of the tints and I was thinking instead of spending £100 on having the guy who did my XC70 to do them all again I might try it myself to save some ££ as I'll have to remove them myself first anyway.
Black V50 with tinted windows is something I approve of Just saying

I did it years ago on two rear windows that I removed and it took me ages, that was cutting it to size etc.
Thinking of something like this (£54.99 was £39.99 when I last checked yesterday) http://www.window-tint.co.uk/pre-cut-window-tint Much cheaper than £180 and could be done DIY in a day.

20% light inlet it is and I will go the same again this time as I wouldn't want them darker. Same as both my previous Volvo's

It really transforms the look of any vehicle but I think it's especially good on estate car's.
I can get all windows done Inc front 2 with a light tint for £160 with a highly recommended company but lije I said I'm struggling to get a booking for some reason. I know his busy so I might keep trying and just hope to get sorted before the end of winter. Rob |

I now have the DIY film (pre-cut) - i am trying to build up the courage to do it, it will easily take a day and given the current weather conditions not ideal which buys me more time to work up to it

My two pence.. Make sure to spray plenty of soapy water on glass prior to applying film, so it will be much easier to move or adjust film if needed. When using squeegee to get rid of bubbles, try to get medium soft plastic one as hard plastic will leave small scratches on film which will be visible later..
