Hello all.

Just thought I'd see if there's any interest in my Volvo V70 D5 . I may as well sell up as my insurance and road tax is due on the 1st July and this is now a secondary car that doesn't need to get used as I have a Caddy for work now and I really cant justify spending £800 per year on a car that's worth the same amount and is not necessary is madness.
Ok here's the details..

FilthyBob ( as he is known as ) is a 2005/54 V70 D5 SE Auto , and has done 217,000 miles. He has had regular maintenance, timing belt and pump not due for a while ( will check the date on cover ) , all oil and filters changed regularly , gearbox oil changed twice , ABS Sensor and Reluctor Rings fitted, recent work includes new front wishbones, new rear brakes + shoe kit fitted, new rear spring fitted , new Goodyear tyres on front, good Khumos on the rear, new Nightbreaker bulbs and good wipers. Also new genuine Lower Gearbox Engine Mount fitted , new genuine Upper Engine Mount fitted, and the EGR pipe cleaned out.
Really anything that the car has needed done has been done , for safety and reliability!

So , the good points:
-Great comfy cruiser, sounds great, drives great , no knocks rattles or bangs.
-All electrics work - cruise control , windows, mirrors, rear demist, heated seats , Air Con.
-No faults/errors/EML
-Passes MOT no problem ( only advisory is slightly discoloured side repeater ) , due 23rd Jan 2018
-Did I say it was comfy?!

And bad points:
-ONLY when the gearbox gets very hot does it jerk/thump. This only happens when the annoying Neutral Stop engages, and only when hot. The gears still change up and down ok. When this happens I just use the up and down manual gear change as thats stops the Neutral Stop from happening!
-Steering Rack is a bit lumpy, but you get used to it. Only really noticeable on roundabouts. The car does steer fine and nothing else is affected. I have changed the Power Steering Fluid but it still happens.
-He's no showroom queen. It has 1 ding in the front passenger wing, scratched drivers mirror, few lower front bumper scrapes and 1 rear bumper scrape. But it still look smart!

Maybe this is too honest a description of FilthyBob , and may put people off ..but don't be! I just want to be truthful and have nothing to hide. I have spent about £1000 on the general stuff above , and don't really want to sell it as it is a great mile muncher and the heated seats are like 1000x comfier than the hideous Caddy seats!! It is very reliable, looks classy, drives great and as I said so comfy!
I'm not going to be doing negotiating-on-price-what's-yer-cheapest nonsense . I am going to ask £800 for this as this seems fair.
If anyone is interested please get in touch. I stay and work in Glasgow and would be willing to travel within a reasonable distance if they are serious.
Cheers,
Stephen

A great bargain for someone!

Neutral Stop is resolved with a software update. Doesn't cost a massive amount.

Agreed!

It's very tempting as my current V70 T5 is getting tired and something like this would make for an excellent daily driver for work. Also have a friend in the market for a diesel estate and whilst not a Volvo man (he still thinks they're for pensioners and caravaners) this is is a crazy amount of car for the cash.

Will pass this on to him.

This won't be around long and I certainly wouldn't entertain offers on it at the price you have it up for.

Hi all. Sorry for not getting back on here, too much on my plate!
Thanks for the kind words about FilthyBob. I'm pleased and sad to say FB went to a fellow Volvo enthusiast who knew about 1000 times more technical knowledge on Volvos than me!
Was definitely sad to see it go as it was a brilliant car, and I'd like to think I will get another Volvo one day.. hopefully a T5
Cheers,
Steve
