Default S40 2.0D Starting Problems. Turn the key but nothing!

Hi all, i had a little search around but couldn't find anything similar.

Have some problems starting my S40. (177k miles)

I turn the key to position 2, all ok, all the lights come on, etc.

Turn the key to position 3 to start the engine and nothing happens!!

After a number of tries (anything from 2-20) it then starts.

If I turn the engine off, and try to start up again, it goes first time.

Any ideas please?

Thanks
Ben

See my recent thread on this.

You'll have the same issue, get it fixed asap before it leaves you stranded completely. Volvo redesigned this part 4 times!
