XC60 replacement door mirror
I’ve just had my offside door mirror trashed by white van man.
Donalds Volvo want £200 for the glass and cover. I’ve found a glass here https://www.cardoormirrors.com/shoppingbag.aspx Are they any good and where can I get the cover?

You don’t say what year the car is but on EBay, you can get an unpainted cover for under £40, glass with heating element is around £20, you can also pay upto £230 for the complete unit as a second hand part. You pays your money and take a chance.
BTW, the above link didn’t work for me. Last edited by Deck1ng; Dec 17th, 2020 at 12:31. |

Most of the replacements I’ve found don’t have these prongs. Does it matter

I think there are two types. Those without prongs are most likely just the glass which just sticks on top the existing mirror.

Fitting the mirror
I’ve taken delivery of the oem mirror. Are there any tricks or things to avoid when fitting it?

There are a couple of UTube films showing removal and replacement.

Answering my own question, the technique I adopted was to offer up the old backplate from which I had removed the shattered glass using a putty knife. That enabled me to understand how the clips worked.
I then applied a vacuum sucker to the face of the new mirror, offered the mirror to the round bit that the mirror backplate clips to and gently pushed until it all clicked into place. Hey presto job done. Getting it off without damaging the glass looks to be less easy
