Is there anyone familiar with the V70XC 2001 and wiring diagrams who can tell me where to find a good spot to take this and what the wire colour code would be, preferably in the engine bay but not headlight?

doesn't it throw up errors if you take power from lights, I know that was mentioned as a possible issue when I was reading about powering my reversing camera from reversing lights..

Is it not possible to just run one straight from the fusebox and put your own in-line fuse on it.. to avoid causing any unexpected issues

depending on application I might think more along the lines of running it from the battery in the back because that way you're already inside the car and running cables to a switch and/or relay will be a piece of cake. Or if you want it switched by ignition I assume you also have the tow-hitch connector by the spare wheel, one of those will do it, I can't remember which is which just test with meter
