Xc90 2004 ABS operating randomly
Hi
Xc90 2004 engine code D5244T I’ve been driving around as normal the past few days, and it feels like the ABS keeps operating when braking. In normal driving conditions, when it isn’t necessary. It doesn’t do it all the time, but it’s becoming pretty consistent and it happens now on every drive I take. Has anyone had a similar problem? I’m assuming it’s the ABS, could it be anything else which would vibrate the brakes under braking. Both wheel bearings have been changed recently, and one abs ring. No faults after fitting for a few months. I’m thinking possible wheel sensor fault, but no fault codes are reading on the ECU using an iCarsoft reader. Thanks in advance. |

Monitor the live wheel sensor readings, all 4 of them, as you drive. That will tell you a lot.

Hi mate
I had a similar issue. Dunno if my thread would be any use... https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=321541 Check if the shaft has loosened and the reluctor ring moved out of alignment like in mine.

If it pulses the abs at low speeds and you get no errors or lights it’s most likely as above a shaft loose or a bad ABS ring

To conclude.
I went for an ABS ring change to start with and it turned out that was the culprit! It looked ok on a visual check, with no noticeable cracks or damage. It seemed to get worse in the cold. Driving like new again. Thanks for advice and hope it helps someone in the future. |
