Default Water when I open the rear passenger door - XC60 T5 2019

Hi All,

Hope all is well?

My Volvo XC60 T5 R Design Pro is in at the Volvo dealership for a health check regarding a couple of things I would like to take a look at.

I have notice over recent months, after heavy shower or persistent rain over night for a few hours, when I come to open the rear passenger door - on the driver side. I am greet with a large volume of water splashing on the ground. I have checked the carpet and the lining and everything is bone dry, which it doesnt explain why the water is 'pooling' between the actual door and main chassis of the vehicle. When I open the door, I have to stand back or I am going to get wet shoes!

The Volvo Engineer has looked at the seals and has seen nothing wrong with them. I have send him a technical journal that describes same scenario for XC90 dating back 2017, but they have responded to say that this is not related to my vehicle and everything checks out.

The passenger door has 'obviously' been closed when driving etc, so there is no question of it being left adjared when driving or being unlocked when the car has been parked up.

Would be grateful if any XC60 owners out there have had similar experience with this issue and whether it has been resolved by the Volvo dealership with replacing seals or windows seals etc.

Thanks again in advance!

Ask if they checked the door handle and the wing mirror also while they dissed off the obvious that the door is compromised somewhere.

Had a similar problem with an elderly XC60 with a sun roof. The drain channel was blocked under the front scuttle under the windscreen. Wasn't blocked by much but the problem in the drivers footwell was epic. If you don't have a sun / pan roof then its something else but look for blocked drain ports.

Get them to remove the interior door trim and check the plastic liner inside the door for damage or poor fitment. I had a similar incident after a door lock was replaced under warranty and water got behind the liner and sat between the door seals just waiting to soak my shoes when I opened the door (rear door, V90)
