Default V60 CC Wheels

Hello

Total newby here.

I'm looking at buying a V60CC - (@ 2018 model) I'm inclining towards a D3 rather than a D4 because it seems to be easier to find a manual box. But all the D3s around seem to be shod with 17" wheels. Can anybody advise me what the pros and cons of upsizing to 18s or 19s on a V60CC are (apart from price which is, I admit, a consideration)?

TIA

I have a V60CC (2017 MY) on 17" wheels and, like you, am looking at replacing with 18s. Mine is the D4AWD, so might drive slightly differently, but on the 17" wheels (and 235/55 tyres) the ride is lovely. Not soft, but not jarring like my previous car (an Audi). I no longer have to worry about potholes and bad road surfaces, or even road markings.

So it's not all downside and I'm being a bit careful to make sure I don't lose too much of that benefit. However, the steering is a little on the vague side for my taste and I'm hoping the 235/50 profiles on the 18" wheels will prove a little more responsive to steering inputs. I have a set of wheels sourced, awaiting a refurb, and will probably put them on the car, with all-season tyres, before the end of the Autumn so I guess I'll find out.

The reasons why you would want an All Wheel Drive car and why you would want to go to bigger wheels are mostly conflicting....

You will lose some comfort, tyres will be more expensive, and you will be more prone to nip punctues.

However with bigger wheels handling might be more sporty and the car might look more sporty?

Given the cost of a decent set of wheels, I really wouldn't bother....

The default wheel size for the V60CC AWD was 18” - mine is a little unusual in being 17” because it’s a SE Nav spec, not Lux Nav (which the majority of AWD versions were at that time).
