Default Re-programme ECU with BSR PPC after new ETM??

For various reasons, very long story I will post another day, I find myself in the position of being able to have a new ETM fitted by a local garage and only having to pay for the part and not fitting (£150+VAT). I understand that the car wont run at all after the fitting until it has been re-programmed that only a dealer can do.

My thought is, can I use my BSR PPC to do the programming for me? I was thinking leaving it tuned and then being able to return to original with the programme stored in the PPC (or would this not work anyway with the new ETM?) Will the PPC do this anyway if it cant find the tuned software after the new ETM is fitted? Should I leave the original software in the car and have the tuned software to upload after fitting the ETM?

Anybody any thoughts on this? hmmmmmmm....

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt

You will need to go to a Volvo main dealer or specialist that has Vida so the car can be programmed properly the PPC will not do it for you i would send the car in with the tune to save time just add the tune back on the car afterwards .

I hope this helps

Thanks for this, I decided not to risk it and its going into main dealer tomorrow, £216 all in which I didn't think was too bad (albeit it should be free!). You suggest leaving the tuned programme on, I take it this is so the same tuned programme on the PPC can go back in straight away afterwards? I did swap back to original earlier simply because the dodgy ETM symptons are 10 times worse on original than when tuned, I presume as the tuned programme changed the throttle response and this where the contact/wear is on the ETM.

While your there, once this is done was wondering what else performance wise I (you!) might be able to do and some budget costs. currently I'm Stage 1 PPC but now have BSR Exhaust & K&N Induction too, Strutt Brace, 18" Pegasus and slightly lowered Eibach springs. Would quite like more initial punch from standstill albeit it is an auto. In gear torque is good but wouldn't complain about having more in any case! What would be the next thing to that you would suggest, thinking 50bhp more (or more!) would be nice, budgeting around £1k.
Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt

If you want me to ask BSR i can see what other tweeks you can have done if any for your car ? I know that Rica are more than happy to tweek the PPC to how the customer likes the car to be so i am sure BSR will do the same,to get a further 50 hp from where you are now will not be easy without serious changes

Please pm me all your details and PPC username and passwords etc i will see what i can do for you.
