Need some advise :I need to replace a flexi hose on my P1 [some oik cut it] problem is the flexi hose union to the brake pipe is stuck fast. Tried a pair of facom brake spanners and mole grips no movement. Making matters worse is its the drivers side so the longer brake pipe and obviously I don't want to remove the pipe as a complete

I had the same problem for the MOT. No way round it, the garage had to put a complete new copper pipe in from the end of the flexi-pipe right back to the ABS chest, cost about £35.

Default give it

a good spray with a penetrating oil (like plus gas, not WD40) over a couple of days then try a bit of localised heat from something like this.

Having soaked in WD40 or Plus Gas try using two spanners, one on the copper pipe nut and one on the flexible hose positioned such that you can squeeze the two spanners together with one hand. Just trying to undo one of the pipes doesn't often work because there's too much movement of the joint. Heat helps as well, even a blow lamp. Regards.

Default brake pipes

Ive tried WD40 with the two spanners and no luck just bends the little carrier. Once the snow has gone I'll go out with the blow lamp and warm the joint up a touch.

As for buying your complete pipe it might be an option.

get down the local motor factors (not halfords) and get a new copper pipe made up and fit the whole thing quicker easier and wont be knackered when youve finished youve got to bleed out the brakes anyway so theres no good reason not to do it. ;0) my pipe cost about £3.50 made up.

WD40 is not the best stuff for these jobs. It's mainly used to displace water from electrics. Try a proper penetrating oil like plus-gas several times & some heat. Probably better to get a new pipe though if you've been twisting it previously. It doesn't take much to kink or damage the pipe or fittings.
