Red face Cheap Leads???

Just a thought, what make were the ignition leads?? It's hard to find a good quaility set out there, Also are the plugs the correct ones?

Why did you change the items you did was it just because it was due? or did you have any other problems?
is the air filter in properly and not restricting flow

hi there, yes changed them as they needed doing, ht leads came from halfords at £46.00 and the spark plugs came from local motor factor, bkr6ek 2 prong. the same that was in it, the only thing ive done to the car was tighten the throttle cable which looked slack to me cleaned where the firetrap should of been and fixed the split pipe which goes from the side of the intake man , just seems at low speed its missing but looking at the rev counter it looks ok, but again today the engine ran on when i turned it off. seems to go down hill when the car is warm, the plugs that came out had like a yellow colour to them

Cool Runs on??

Hi, did it have this problem before you changed the leads and plugs? i always trace my last steps back, if ive changed somfthing and then i've a problem after i retrace my steps.

I once had a Volvo 340 1.4 carb. i serviced it and changed the leads because they looked like they needed doing.
After i done this the car always ran on after the ignition was turned off. dont know why.
the leads wernt great but then i sold the car not long after so i never got to the bottom of it.
I replaced the leads on my Mercedes 260e and it never link to start from cold took a few more turns than usual, i put the old set back on and it run spot on!
I'm not syaing it is the leads but if it didnt have this problem before all you have done is replace the plugs like for like and repaired a vac line, so it would suggest it's the leads.

thanks for the info, the car runs better with the new leads on so dont think its the leads, the car doesnt feel as quick on pickup as to when i first got it,
