Default S60 R - hesitation & slight loss of power

All of the posts related to anything similar seem to have been moved. I have a 2004 S60 R and I am experiencing slight hesitations when I accelate and in the mornings after drive a short distance and come to a stop the rev's often drop to about 400 and then spike to about 1,100 and then back to normal at 700. It has yet to cut out but it gets very close. I have had the dealer clear out the throttle housing but this made no difference.

When I accelerate somtimes it is fine and other times there is a slight hesitation at all different rev's - it seems to be intermittent but getting worse.

Over a year ago, I have had my volvo main dealer upgrade my ECU to take out the 3,000rpm's flat spot that some of you may know about. I was never confident it was idling pefectly after the upgrade was done. But at the same time I got a fully service, spark plugs, fuel and oil filter change etc. So it could be any number of these?

Has anyone had any simliar problems and been able to solve this?

I am going to get it plugged in, but as there are no warning lights etc, this is not likely to show anything. Any info/advise would be much appreciated.

Could be the fuel pressure sensor or boost control solenoid

A customers S60R was doing similair things, there was no warning lights on the dash, yet it would drive with no power, and when it did have power it would be very hesitant and run rough.

it turned out to be the MAF sensor on that one.

i would recommend getting it read anyway to cancel anything else out.

Thanks Jamie 28 and GRN Motors. It turned out to be a Knock Sensor that was not making a proper connection. Running perfectly again but was the cause of the car not running great at idle for the past 14 months. I knew it was electrical.....thanks for the advise anyway
