My "other" issue on my 2009 XC60 D5 AWD Manual is an intermittent PAS feeling heavy only at idle... I can not stress enough this is only evident at idle and not always either. For example... on morning cold start ups the PAS is fine, even at idle (most likely due to higher idle) to when it's fully warmed up. Otherwise the PAS is perfectly fine 95% of the time. There are no leaks or untoward noises from the PAS system neither.

Things I've done so far to cure this PAS issue are:

- Full PAS fluid flash / refill with 2 litres of fresh CHF11S (the old fluid was dark brown)
- Brand new "Genuine" Volvo PAS reservoir / fluid bottle (the filter inside looked a bit mucky)
- Brand new "Gates" Aux belt (even though my XC had the official recall few years ago)
- Brand new "OEM / DAYCO" Aux belt tensioner (even though my XC had the official recall few years ago)

I'm wondering if this is an early indicator of PAS pump failure and/or PAS pipes degrading internally.
Any further thought would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Other issues

Knocking and creaking noise from steering once car is warm. Volvo unable to diagnose, but agree the fault is there. I can feel it through the steering wheel too.

Our 2010 XC60 D5 has developed a small oil leak located close to what seems the oil vapor collector, which is a small plastic box on the rear of the engine, which seems to be wet. The area is where the turbo (turbos) are located. The oil drips down to the bottom cover by the intercooler piping. Any comments are welcome.

I plan to vapor clean all the area to help identify where the leak comes from and take the car to the dealer perhaps next week. Despite having only 34,700 Km the car is off warranty. A prior inspection request was made by the 30,000 Km inspection and the service manager ruled it off as dripping from a previous oil change.

Has anyone encountered such a leak on a D5 such as ours?

I have the same problem with my late 2011 XC60 D5244T15 - it appears that oil is leaking from the turbos - possibly a PCV problem but I can't find anything to confirm this.

Some suggest the oil leak is from the turbo return line and others suggest turbo seals. I've seen faulty PCVs do this before on other brands (I'm a fully qualified toyota tech). Just want to see if anyone else has seen this oil leak before I get on the tools.

Hi, I’m experiencing issues with my front suspension bushes, would something like this be covered under warranty if the car hasn’t yet hit the age of three years and is under 25,000 miles? Thank you

mods, can we sticky this please? thx.

Could consideration be given to adding another failure i.e. XC60 multiple service warnings about almost every system e.g. air bags, BLIS, ABS, tire pressure, headlights, adaptive cruise control not working etc. etc. multiple service warnings about almost every system e.g. air bags, BLIS, ABS, tire pressure, headlights, adaptive cruise control not working etc. etc.

Three members including myself have had this fault which was repaired by having the SRS module. A £800 - £1000+ repair.

Two of us had the same fault on our respective 2015 XC60s at almost the same time.

It might of entered safety mode.
How I rectified it.
Start engine.
Manually press tailgate open button on the tailgate long press. This enables the manual opening.
Open fully it’s a heavy lift. Manually
Close fully manually.
Turn off engine.
Try opening and closing as normal with key button.
Good luck worked for me.

2014, 63000miles.
This year had to replace propshaft. Volvo paid forty percent still cost us around £700.
Now have a catastrophic engine failure with a cracked block. We have to pay fifty five percent £6700.
